| Microspore06-22-05, 08:08 PM | I have a question about adding a template to a PC mid-campaign. If a character were to become a half-vampire/vampire/Lich etc. during a campaign how would you go about it? If a PC were to get one that adjusted him one lvl it wouldn't be much of a concern. You can freeze his xp or have him take the template instead of his next lvl. With a template with a greater lvl change what would you use? I was thinking about breaking the abilities up using the idea from Savage Species. This would eliminate having to drop the PC in lvls or some other more extreme solution. For the sake of game balence I would like to keep the PC simular in lvl. Any ideas or comments? |

Say a PC get infected with lycanthropy. Normally this would give the PC an instant +3 LA. But by distributing the racial traits through three progression levels a PC can, through the course of a game, gradually take on more and more lycanthrope traits and adjust its character level just as if it gained a level in a class. The five original lycanthropes are presented in Savage Progressions as an example. |
