Adding class levels to a minutar [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-06-07, 09:21 PM When I add class leves, do I add the racial hit die and the +2 level adjustment? Working on a challenge and am a little confused.

02-06-07, 10:19 PM Depends on whether you plan on using it as a PC or NPC.

If you plan on playing it as a PC in a party, a minotaur is ECL8(6 racial HD, +2LA) and is thus the equivalent of a 8th lv character. You need to be 9th lv before you can take your 1st class lv.

If you are using it as a NPC to pit against the PCs, then use its cr rather than its ECL.

basically, you have (max lv - 8) class lvs to play around with.
