| Mythrivorax07-14-06, 11:02 AM | What would the challenge rating adjustment for adding Damage Reduction to a creature be? I would guess that it would be something like +1 per 5 points, as well as a number depending on how rare the material would be. Does this sound about right to anyone else? |
| Bluehero07-14-06, 01:48 PM | Ok straight from the monster manual to you: damage reduction is often based on the CR of a monster as by this chart (MM pg. 300) Target CR Reccomended DR 0-2 none 3-5 5 6-13 10 14-20 15 Now as for the CR, I would say that is based on the type of DR. If it is something easy like, say, /magic, then I would say that "the monster possesses special attacks or qualities that improve combat effectiveness in a minor way" thus warranting a +1 increase in CR. However, if the Dr is something like /adamantine that you players are unlikely to be able to bypass then it would probably "possess special attacks or qualities that improve combat effectiveness significantly" thus warranting a +2 increase to CR. As for just assigning a straight number, I would follow thew guidelines above. Hope that helps. |
