Hi All!
Salt mummies have BAB +6. But on a full attack action, they are listed as having just one attack. They advance by character class, not HD. I want to add a level of fighter or warrior, but does that mean he is now +7/+2 on a full attack? Or just +7?

It makes me think that basic salt mummies should be +6/+1, but maybe there's something I don't understand about advancing monsters. Appreciate any help!

All I could think of was to check the errata, and while there is errata for the salt mummy, it doesn't include adjustments to either its BAB or its attacks. I am just as baffled as you are!

Since I can't find any reason why it should operate differently, I would probably give the regular salt mummy +6/+1 (BAB) for its slam attack - as far as I know, that should happen with all normal attacks of that type, so I guess that itself is an error that no one caught.

Maybe someone else knows of other creatures like this? Is there precedent somewhere else that indicates creatures like this are stuck with just one attack?

Natural attacks don't give extra attacks - you make one for each natural weapon.
So if you have 2 claws you make two attacks, even if you have a +20 BAB. If you had two slams to begin with now... You'd get two attacks.

But being a fighter, you now would have weapon proficiency - Use it, pick up a weapon and you get those extra attacks from having a +7/+2. You'll lose the slam though, since that tends to be a punch (or in this case a double-punch), kick etc.

Monks are the exception note - But then any normal human non-monk can't deal d6 damage with his unarmed unmagic'd fist.

Does it state that the slam must be made with your fist? I was wondering (and still am) if you could have it wield a weapon, then follow up with its slam attacks as secondary attacks by designating those slam attacks as made from its feet or something...

Speaking of the errata, there seems to be a mistake there unless I'm missing something. They lowered the hp by 12, which would be the hp granted by the improved toughness feat, but did not state that the improved toughness feat was being removed.

Runestar, I think you are stating that a full attack action could possibly be:

+7 weapon / +2 slam (+7/+5 with multi-attack)

in place of the other two options:
+7/+2 weapon
or
+7 slam.

My experience with giving character levels to monsters is small, so I don't know the answer. It seems odd, though, since generally weapon attacks and natural attacks are kept completely separate.

A salt mummy monk would be a fearsome opponent.

It is possible to mix natural atatck with manufactured weapon attacks, but only if (1) you're a monk, or (2) the natural attacks come from a non-weapon-wielding limb.

Example: A minotaur can make a greataxe attack plus a gore attack, since it can bash with its head while swinging an axe.

Slam attacks are trickier...personally, I would impose the full two-weapon fighting penalties on a sword/slam combo.

D'oh, forgot slam attacks were natural. Used to thinking of them as unarmed strike kinds of things.
