Now the problem comes with the aging of the Familiar, how does one deal with the familiars aging, in the game it has been 5 years which would be enough to have the wyrmling to become a Very Young dragon (7 in game years since the dragon hatched but three of those are between campaigns) so how do I deal with this, just give the dragon the stats of a Very Young Dragon or what? |

Familiars are generally useless in combat, so this shouldn't be necessary, but if a very young dragon is a threat to his enemies (unlikely), things should continue as before. |

It wouldn't make much sense (In Game) for the dragon to go away as the Sorcerer is the dragons half-brother. The Sorcerer is a Half-Bronze Dragon character with the Dragon as his mother and she was slain by someone in service to Tiamat, the full dragon hatched just after the mother was slain and the only survivor of the last clutch. In fact the entire new campaign is connected to actually tracking down the killer as they just found a clue as to the killlers location. (The rest of the Party was connected to the Dragon in some way or another before she was killed and so the party got back togather to deal with the new threat. |

Another idea is to move the Dragon over to Cohort (as you are doing) and then let the Sorcerer pick up a new familiar without penalty, since he didn't loose the familiar, it just graduated. Sounds like you've come up with a plan that works for you and your players - good job. |
| Darth Sephiroth01-05-06, 08:24 AM | I'm glad it worked as it did, the character wouldn't have wanted a new familiar and stuck with the one he had by adding a feat to allow him to keep the dragon in the party (The only way he'd probably stop using the dragon as a Familiar is if someone wanted to play a dragon and the thing would probably end up being a Rogue of some sort since it already tries to swipe anything shiney from anyone). It has been fun to have the guy playing what basically amounted to two loudmouthed characters who end up arguing with each other in a hysterical manner half the time. |
