Hey, just a question, does advancing a monster increase it's Spellcasting ability?
If so in what ways?

Thanks.

It depends on how the entry is worded. If it states that the monster casts spells as a caster of X lv, where X is some constant, then no, advancing in monster HD will not advance its spellcasting. This pertains to most of the monsters in the MM, such as ghaele/coautl etc. Thus, even if a coautl takes additonal outsider HD, it will still cast as a 9th lv sorc.

If the entry explicitly states that it casts spells as a caster equal to its number of HD, then its spellcasting will scale as it advances in HD. But the number of monsters which state this is quite rare. I only know of 2, spellweaver and sharn. More may exist though, though they are more of an exception rather than the norm.

You can usually advance a monsters spellcasting by adding class levels insted of adding racial hit die.

I'll add the Slyph(MM2) to your list.
