I am a bit unsure about the influence the Agumented Subtype has especially about the sentence "The augmented subtype is always paired with the creature’s original type"

Does that mean that the creature basically has two types and can be affected by effects which targets either one of the types?
For example can a familliar (Magical Beast Agumented Animal) e affected by Animal Growth or a Half Dragon (Dragon Agumented HumanI by Hold Person?

Half Dragon (Dragon Agumented HumanI by Hold Person?

My understanding would be that he would be unaffected by the Hold Person spell because the Type is dragon and a person in game mechanics would be humanoid.

The Augmented subtype is sort of an explanation in case for some reason you may revert to your original type or whay have you.
