Air Elemental [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-01-07, 12:19 PM What does an Air Elemental look like? I ask this because the description in the MM says it has an amorphous form but the description for a Fire Elemental, also an insubstantial type of element, as well as a Water Elemental and Earth Elemental say they each have a humanoid shape. Now in the Spellbook section on this site there's a spell called Elemental Familiar that turns a familiar into a tiny Fire, Earth, Air or Water Elemental that has the same shape as the original form. If an Air Elemental is amorphous how can it have the form or a rat, bat, eagle etc.? Finally the Summon Elemental Monolith spell says it summons a humanoid shaped Elemental Monolith but the monster description says the Air Elemental Monolith is amorphous in shape. Also the picture of the Air Elemental Monolith is humanoid shaped.

06-01-07, 01:03 PM I imagine they could look like a cloud. I found this picture, which might fit the bill: Just think of something like the picture of the invisible stalker in the MM (which isn't invisible, incedentaly :P).

More seriously, Complete Arcane has a picture of an air elemental. On the picture it looks like a vaguely humanoid-shaped cloud.

06-01-07, 02:06 PM Well I just found a picture of an Air Elemental in Complete Mage in the section of variant class abilities for the Druid. It does indeed look like a cloud with eyes. That stinks because since it's not humanoid it doesn't get simple weapon proficiency like all other humanoid shaped elementals and since it's amorphous it can't use magic items of any sort. Looks like Air Elementals get shafted in comparison to other elementals.

Are there any miniature's put out by WoTC of an Air Elemental?
