The_Yellow_Dart_Swinger 04-03-04, 09:30 PM	I was going to play a Kyton for an evil/monster campaign yet I truely don't know anything about it since the 3.5 MM is pretty vauge about that sort of things. So I was wondering if anyone knew more about the Kyton like what they eat, how they sleep, how they view the opposite sex, is there even an opposite sex or are they asexual, what races they get along with, what races do they just want to strangle, how does a normal Kyton act, ETC. It would be appriciated if anyone could help.
Noremac 04-03-04, 10:13 PM	Well, I don't know about the rest of your questions, but I know what they eat and how they sleep: Nothing and not at all. A Kyton is an Outsider, and thus doesn't need food or sleep (looks at Outsider Subtype, Monster Manual pg. 313).
Lord Tarran 04-03-04, 10:26 PM	Though it does say the above in the MM, thats somewhat wrong. All evil outsiders do need sustanence of some sort: souls. Also, you can fatigue an outsider, so they do need sleep, though its probably along the elven lines of sleep.

I mean't more like what is the typical's Kyton's habits, ambitions, life style. And to quote from the SRD. —Outsiders breathe, but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish). Native outsiders breathe, eat, and sleep. I'm not 100% sure but when it says Native Outsiders I assume its on the outsider's own material plane.

Native is a subtype possessed by certain creatures with the Outsider type that are native to the Material Plane, such as tieflings and aasimar.
Boondoggle 04-04-04, 12:09 AM	I know in FR, demons and devils collect souls in order to advance in rank, that is, transform into a more powerful demon or devil. However, no cosmology that I'm aware of has ever made them dependant upon souls for survival.

Primus, the One and Prime 04-04-04, 07:03 AM	Kytons are outsiders, as such don't think of them as a race, they are far more than that. They are the living embodiment of Law and Evil in the multiverse. While not Baatezu, they are Devils and are almost Law incarnate. The mind of Kyton cannot work on the same level as the mind of you or I for to them, Evil is a thing, a living breathing thing that dwells within them. Kyton's primarily dwell in the massive Baatorian city of Jangling Hiter. They are the police force of the city, stalking transgressors of the law. heir bodys are vaguely humanoid though, in lieu of clothing and armor, they swathe themselves in long razor sharp chains. It is the clink of chains which most identifies and defines the kytons. A stalked soul will always know when he is being hunted for the horrible jingling of metal will follow his every move until finally he is brought low. In Jangling Hiter all Kytons are equal, noone is treated unfairly and no arguments ever occur. They all follow the fiendish codes in such a way that an odd sort of harmony exists in the ranks. The only thing that can cause two kytons to battle is competition over choice victims. These battles are short-lived with the stronger taking the law-breaker and the weaker fleeing into the night. The only treasure a kyton owns is taken from those law-breaker's he has "brought to justice" in his own sick twisted way. Some say that kytons consume their victims, but others say that it is merely the fear and screams of the victim they feed off, or alternately the souls. This is all just conjecture for a true study of kyton physiology has never been done. This is because captured kytons can die merely by willing it, dissolving into an acrid puddle of chains and sizzling ichor almost instantly. Source - Planes of Law boxed set Monstrous Supplement.
Raymond_Luxury_Yacht 04-04-04, 05:06 PM	On a side note, the only part of a Kyton that isn't covered by the chains is part of its throat, and occasionally its mouth, which sometimes look like a deceased friend or relative of the person who sees the Kyton. No one knows if this is an illusion or if the deceased has been given some horrible new life.
