| Vhob The Enchanter01-25-05, 11:26 PM | I am starting/taking over a Vampire campaign and after reading the Dhampir novels I was thinking about creating different types of Vampires to add a little flavor into a campaign into which you'd be only fighting one type of enemy. Obviously there is putting different classes to them and dropping some special abilities and raising others. But further than that I would like some suggestions as to how I can keep the basic ideal of a Vampire but put enough of a spin on it to make it fresh and new. I need these ideas for me as much as for them. |

| Shayde01-29-05, 06:06 PM | I am inclined to agree with manyfist on watching the Vampire hunter D series for inspiration, but I'm an anime nut anyway. My personal reccomendations are that vampires don't neccessarily have to be evil in alignment, and second, substituting some of their spell like and supernatural abilities for different abilities of roughly the same level. Also D20 modern introduced a concept where a vampire could give up one of its supernatural or spell like abilities to get rid of one of its weaknesses, it might not hurt to keep this in mind. |

Cerebral vampire: This vampire already exist in the ravenloft setting, they eat int point instead of con Ethereal vampires, these vampires are more bluish than other vampires they are constantly fading away into nothingness and need lifeforce and charisma to support their wretched extince Pain vampire: This twisted creature looks more like a well preserved lich with vampire teeth, they drain dexterity points causing extreme pain and shaking in the process. Dark crone: These vampires only manifests as old woman bluish black skin and white wispy hair. They drain strength points from their victims, they much feared by the warriors of the north form which lands they originate. Soul vampire. These creatures like to call themselves the ultimate vampires, they do not only feed on the body’s fluids or strength or lifeforce or anything as crude as that they consume what makes people uniqe, their very soul utterly annihilating the person in the process. They see themselves as the pinnacle of the parasitic lifestyle of the vampire and all other vampires are just stumbling dolts in comparison. They drain wisdom points. |
| Hochi-min trail01-30-05, 08:45 AM | When i decided to change the vampire and were-creatures, i went on a different path. Basically, the flavour point isn't that difficult to change. I personally used White Wolf's vampire variation for the flavour. In addition, i took their idea of blood points to create their abilities. The biggest change i did though, was to eliminate the "monster" type of the creature and changed it to a unique race-related class. This was the only class Kindred were allowed to take, as it was their racial advancement (sorry for the name stealing, i just love the name). If you want, i have a draft of the class, though it is still a little overpowered. |
