along time ago the (insert ancient civilization here) created these machines as super weapons in (insert historical battle here).now only a few exist and are laying dormant in (insert dungeon here) .

A ______ apears like a 10ft tal cylinder with 2ft radius with four multi jounted 10ft legs on the base , half way up the cylinder are two shoulder-like orbs connected to 15ft lengths of thick chain that serves as the primary attack.
when not in use or dormant the legs retract and the shoulders pull in causing it to resemble a pillar made of unkown material, attacking a dormant ____ cuases it the re ativate ,becoming fully function-able in 1d6+2 rounds

combat

chain attack(ex):the chain attack has 15 ft reach

improved grab (ex):if a ____ hits with a chain attack it may start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity,it has the option to hold the creature using only its chain but takes -20 on the grapple check and is not considered grappled , keeps its dex bonus to ac, an still threatans an area and can use its remaining attacks against other creatures

instability:due to a small base for the hieght the ____ has -4 against bull rush and trip

the ______ has +8 racial bonus on climb
questions? comments? complaints? , oh by the way it was meant for seige and the like

First off, it's only immune to most things that allow fortitude saves. It needs a fort save in case someone casts disintegrate or something. Also, I think the CR belongs somewhere in the high single digits. It's far too weak to be as important as a major magical item. It's a nasty customer if you want to run up and hit it with a sword, but it's laughably vulnerable to magic with its horrible saves and no SR or spell immunity.

I'd call it a warpillar or something to that effect.

It should really have a few SAs and SQs. Extended reach with the chains should be written up as a special attack rather than just mentioned in the space/reach entry, and adding improved grab wouldn't be out of line. It needs some DR (probably 10/adamantine) and maybe some minor energy resistances. Maybe it should have an instability special quality that makes it easier to bull rush and trip - unless the legs splay way out, that thing's ridiculously narrow-based for its height.

Why does it have a 19 int? I'd think you'd want more like 5 or 6 int for a purpose-built shock troop like this, if you make it intelligent at all. Wisdom and charisma are also bizzarely high.

The leg attacks, being secondary natural weapons, should get +4 damage from strength.

You've got the grapple bonus wrong. It should be +12 BAB + 9 strength + 8 Huge = 29. Was that just a typo?

How can it possbily use Open Lock?

I guess I have re read alot of things before posting.
Its a major magic item because there should only be like a few of them but maybe then its just a severly under powered artifact or more likley a minor magic item.
Ill try to fix the sa sq and magic weakness.
It has 19 int so it can figure things out on its own but ill lower it because it dosent make sense now that someone has pointed it out.
It probably would be easy to trip and/or knock over.
Cha and wis were random numbers, thell be lowered .
Im not sure where open lock came from, ill reduce intelligence and it wont have enough skill points any way. What would its fort save be with no constitution(sp?)?

A creature with no constitution has no constitution bonus or penalty to its fortitutde save. This typically leads to lousy fortitude saves, so it's a good thing for them that they hardly ever use them.
