GrayHat 06-29-04, 04:29 PM	I was wondering, I have a character who is immune to fire and was wondering if I threw liquid metal on him would he take the damage? I mean, fire is heat which is what burns it plus the flame, but liquid metal is pretty much heat. (But of course if the metal dried it would be solid) (he is half-dragon, red by the way)

Klaus van der Kroft 06-29-04, 05:48 PM	The idea of liquid metal is that it burns -I assume that, when you speak of liquid metal, you mean molten metal. It damages because it is very, very hot. Therefore, the character would see no harm, since it is immune to heat-based damage. Keep in mind, however, that liquid metal is still metal, and it is still very, very heavy. So, in very large amounts and in a single, strong splash it may still cause damage, much like a falling object would, to a lesser degree, that's it.
Gez 06-29-04, 07:36 PM	There is one metal that is liquid at normal temperatures, mercury. You are immune to the temperature at which mercury is molten, but that doesn't make you immune to poison. You can touch it without too much risks, provided you don't have cuts; but don't drink it, or rub your eyes before making sure you have no quicksilver left on them (since it isn't "wet", it don't adhere to the skin, however a little droplet could be trapped under a nail or whatever). It would kill you. Unless the dose is very small. In which case, it would just make you feel very ill. Otherwise, for things like molten lead or other very hot liquid metals, same thing. Before taking in dip in molten uranium, remember that the dangers of molten metals are not merely in their heat. Poison (and notably, poisonous vapors), and maybe even radioactivity. So, the character would take no direct damage, but he may have to make Fortitude saves or lose Constitution points.
