This eighteen-inch creature looks much like a sprite of some sort: a delicate humanoid with the wings of a moth. Its skin is dappled with odd patterns, almost like tattoos, and the dull colors on its wings almost seem to swirl before your eyes.

Acid sprites are a rare and dangerous variety of fey, believed by some to be merely insane pixies. Acid sprites often act in ways that, among mortals, would be counted as insanity, but this appears to be a normal state of being for these eccentric fey.
Acid sprites average eighteen inches in height and weight about 5 pounds. They speak Sylvan; some individuals learn Common and Elven as well.

Combat: Combat with acid sprites is a tricky proposition. The same group of fey that fled in terror from a light spell may attack like tiny berserkers when next encountered...or they may attempt to parley...or lead a shambling mound into the battle. Their tactics vary from the basic to the incredibly subtle, but one common factor is their hatred of hand-to-hand combat. Acid fey are too weak to take on anything larger than a housecat; consequently they prefer to hang back and assault their enemies (and sometimes their friends) with spell-like abilities and spurts of acid. Their acidic spit has a range of 30', with no range increment.
Chaotic Mind (Ex): If an acid sprite is affected by a non-instantaneous mind-affecting effect, the sprite gains a new Will save every round to throw off the effect. If the effect normally allow a new Will save every round, the acid sprite can make two.
Immunities: Acid sprites are immune to acid, as well as nonmagical poison and diseases.
Spell-like Abilities: At will--acid splash, daze, flare, lesser confusion; 3/day--sleep, Tasha's hideous laughter; 1/day--confusion, crushing despair, Melf's acid arrow. Caster level 7th; save DC 12+spell level. The save DCs are Charisma-based.

PEACHes and CR welcome.

Cool concept. Whats the range on spit? Also, kinda seems like a low CR for that many spell-like abilities...maybe a 3-4?

Nice monster!

D'oh! How about 30'?

CR 3 it is (CRs are not my strong suite).

Nice monster!

Thanks!

30' looks good to me. Hmmm, ya know....a big group of these guys could be quite deadly with a touch attack like that....:plotting:

I think my players might just have an unfortunate introduction to the Acid Sprite sometime very soon. :evillaugh

Shouldn't they have Acid Splash at will? I mean, it's a nice, low-level acid spell. Maybe even Melf's Acid Arrow 1/day, though that may bump it up a CR. Cool guy, though.

This reminds me of the venom pixie I saw last October. I like the idea of acid splash, also it needs to have a haste since it is a superplannar creature that moves at different speeds that we do.

Haste spell 3/day
Acid Splash Unlimited/day

Edited in the new SLAs; thanks for the ideas! What do you think; still CR 3, or bump it to 4? Thanks for the positive feedback!

Not sure about haste...they're not really extraplanar or unearthly, just fey whose natural state of being is akin to (what we call) madness.

Nah, I would leave it at 3...it's got lots of SLA's but one good hit and this guy's down for the count.

If you want a spellcasting Acid Spite, just use the "elite array" of stats and give Int the biggest boost. They're fey, with great Charisma and inborn magical powers, but "book-larnin' " isn't their strong suite.
