| KhalaKyRelai01-06-07, 10:53 PM | I jumped on the D&D band-wagon playing AD&D, but I was very young and did not understand the game. When I actually learned the game, I learned 3.5 (and kind of 3.0 from playing Neverwinter Nights.) Would someone describe the difference between "beast", "animal", and "magical beast" to me and why beast was removed (or why it was there in the first place). Thank you. |

Beast's were the mythological creatures that didn't have any magical properties. Magical beasts are the ones that display magical abilities, or must have magical qualities to do things they do. For example, a Gryphon could never fly if it were a real creature. So, the gryphon is a magical beast, now. I think they did away with the "beast" type becuase the creatures were either magical, or not. There really isn't a need for an in between type. |
