Treasure Standard Alignment Usually neutral evil Advancement By character class Level Adjustment +5 A humanoid figure approaches--an elven woman, young and very beautiful with golden hair and dazzling blue eyes. She sways rhythmically as she walks, graceful as a dancer. She greets you with a bright smile and extends her hand. Baobhan sith (pronounced bavan shee) are dangerous fey, associated with the Unseelie Court. Believed by some to be related to dryads, baobhan sith appear as beautiful young women of apparently elven heritage, with dazzling eyes and long hair. Their ears, however, are too long and their teeth are sharp and predatory. For this reason, baobhan sith usually use their illusion powers to disguise themselves. Baobhan sith are selfish creatures, caring only for themselves and the other members of their dance. They are often employed by the lords of the Unseelie Court, but rarely trusted. They prey upon travelers, preferably young, healthy males; in lean times they become travelers themselves, entering small villages and posing as a troupe of elven performers. Often, they lure away unsuspecting victims with illicit promises, thus ensuring their secrecy. Because of their habits of posing as dancers and of feeding on blood, baobhan sith are sometimes known as "dancing vampires." Baobhan sith are the same height and weight as female elves. They speak Common, Elven and Sylvan. Combat: Although they prefer to use guile and deception, baobhan sith are not afraid of combat, especially when backed up by their dance. They make use of their superior mobility and sneak attack especially dangerous foes, preferring to keep the weaker ones alive to feed on. Beguiling Aura (Su): Baobhan sith carry with them an aura of glamour that sometimes blinds others to their more monstrous traits. Whenever a creature is subject to the baobhan sith's blood drain attack, the victim must make a Will save (DC 19) to recognize the attack for what it is. On a failure, the victim believes the attack to be merely a kiss or amorous caress. Any witnesses within 30' are subject to this affect as well (and must make their own saves). If one character successfully saves and warns his allies, they make immediately make new saves with a +4 bonus. In addition, creatures targeted by the baobhan sith's charm person spell-like ability do not gain the usual +5 bonus on their saves if the baobhan sith's allies are threatening the victim. Beguiling aura is a mind-affecting charm effect. The save DC is Charisma-based. Blood Drain (Ex): A baobhan sith can suck blood from a living victim by making a grapple check. If it pins the foe it drains blood, dealing 1d4 points of Constitution damage each round the pin is maintained. Improved Grab (Ex): If a baobhan sith hits a single foe of her own size or smaller with both claws, she may attempt to start a grapple. If she pins, she will drain blood. Spell-like Abilities: At will--charm person, dancing lights, disguise self, ghost sounds; 3/day--minor image, summon nature's ally III. Caster level 8th; save DC 15 + spell level. The save DCs are Charisma-based. Unearthly Grace (Su): A baobhan sith applies her Charisma as a deflection bonus to AC and as a resistance bonus on all saves. |
