In an upcoming campaign I thought about the group being shipped to an island that was once inhabited by a wizard that experiment to make magically enhanced animals. After doing this a freak accident happened to cause two of his experiments, a snake and a monitor lizard, grew to an amazing size, and equally dangerous.

Now I am kind of basing this off a common running theme in monster movies about animals that turned into monsters due to being genetically engineered to be killing machines. The case of these two guys I was thinking the Magebreed template from Eberreon and maybe the Titanic template from MMII covers the theme quiet well. Anyone have any other suggestions that maybe a better fit for that theme?

MMIII's spellwarped creature template can represent, well, a creature warped by spells, and is a lot of fun, too. Other than that, if you have Savage Species, you basically have all you need: insectile creatures, monstrous creatures, multiheaded creatures, winged creatures, reptilian creatures, symbiotic creatures, feral creatures, there's almost no end to the fun. Plus, you can use the anthropomorphic animal template to create "man-beasts," the result of your wizard experimenting with attempting to give animals human form. You could also change the tauric template around a bit to fuse two non-humanoid somethings. Basically, for genetic wackiness, Savage Species is a treasure trove (just don't let your players see it, they tend to try to abuse all those templates).

Have fun!

Well the problem is that I have neither of those books, and since I got no job to cover my D&D book-buying habit, I can't good spending 30-40 dollars per book. Maybe I can find one and kinda scribble down some though. Also I was wondering would the viper from MM3.5 fit well as a cobra?

Iff you want raw destructive power for the creatures, make them Kaiju. That is one of the most fun templates in existance.

It's in one of the Dragon Mags, there is also an updated version on the forum, here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=700183).

You could also try the Horrid Template from ECS. They are essentially bred for battle.
