| Sweet T09-26-03, 01:07 PM | The inspiration for this thread came from the "Weapon X!" thread here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=95965). I think Wolverine could be built combining a dwarven half-troll with the weapon x template and feral templates added. Another "X" character build could be an awakened or incarnate iron golem for Colossus. Of course a high level psion (telepath) for Prof. X. Any other ideas for builds? I have a few and will post them soon.:D |
| Kain Darkwind09-26-03, 08:11 PM | Angel- Half Celestial Cyclops- Human with searing light as a spell like ability at will Nightcrawler- Halfling with spider climb and dimension door at will Kitty Pryde- Human with ethrealness at will Sabretooth- Half Troll Hobgoblyn Mystique- Human with change self at will. |
| Vaalingrade Ashland09-26-03, 09:49 PM | Jubilee: Human with Burning hands (subbed for electricity) at will. Gambit: Human Rogue 15/Sorc 5 : Carries spell storing shurken shapped like playing cards. Jean Grey Psion 10/ Loser 15 :D Beast: Feral Awakened Ape with Headband of Intellect +10 |
| Dartanel09-27-03, 01:40 AM | Colossus would work better as a human with the supernatural ability to cast Iron Body at will. |
| Sweet Steph09-27-03, 03:09 AM | Originally posted by Vaalingrade Ashland Jean Grey Psion 10/ Loser 15 :D As for the Loser part, you're thinking of the Hollywood version. In the comics, she was so powerful it wasn't even funny. Anyhow, here are some more: Quicksilver: Human with speed 380 Archangel: Avariel Mastermind: Human with major image at will Juggernaut: Human with 30 Str and immunity to just about everything |
| Xaxor09-27-03, 04:29 AM | Well Juggernaut is only invulnerable to mental attacks when he has his helmet on. Which should probably be a magic item itself. |
| DarkSoldier09-27-03, 04:41 AM | Originally posted by Xaxor Well Juggernaut is only invulnerable to mental attacks when he has his helmet on. Which should probably be a magic item itself. Juggernaut (first app: X-Men #12) derives his power from the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, the same Bands of Cyttorak that Doctor Strange uses to bind his foes. Nothing stops Juggernaut except Juggernaut (and Onslaught); while wearing his helmet, he is immune to all mind-affecting effects, and probably has massive DR and a very high Strength score. He apparently does not need to breathe. The Ruby of Cyttorak (which gave Cain Marko his power) is an artefact of the highest order; every sorcerer worth the name knows of it, and knows how dangerous it is. Question: If Juggernaut (the Irresistable Force) charged the Blob (the Immovable Object), what would happen? Since the Blob is a mutant, and Juggy's magically-powered, I'm inclined to say that Juggernaut would send the Blob into the next county. |
| Gadodel09-27-03, 05:43 AM | Actually, Spider Man stopped the Juggernaut...like three times, by the time I stopped reading comics...circa 1995. Deadpool stopped Juggernaut twice and was fond of reminding him that Spider Man had also stopped Juggernaut. Wolverine and Jean Grey teamed up to stop Juggernaut too. So much for the Unstoppable Juggernaut title... :D |
| Sweet T09-27-03, 07:54 AM | Cool...I was also thinking about that possibility for Colossus, Dartanel. For Nightcrawler I was also thinking possibly a tiefling or even half-fiend (recently found out that his father was some sort of demon or devil). And I was thinking shapechange at will for Morph, or possibly making him a doppleganger (he never did look completely human in the comics). I'm still not sure if there's a way to emulate rogue's powers unless you use vampiric touch coupled with something else. Storm would have to be some sort of druid or elemental savant I think. |
| Yipwyg the Mighty09-27-03, 09:32 AM | Storm:Control Weather at will All I can think of that you guys havn't already said for now. |
| Mordenkainen's Rubber Duck of DOOM09-27-03, 12:24 PM | Rogue- Human with Touch Version Ray of Enfeeblement on Continuously? (No way to shut off). How does she absorb powers, though? |
| Vaalingrade Ashland09-27-03, 04:05 PM | Originally posted by DarkSoldier Question: If Juggernaut (the Irresistable Force) charged the Blob (the Immovable Object), what would happen? This happened in Evolution Blob: The Unstoppable, meet the Immovable. Juggernaut: Grrr *shoulder barge* Blob: *goes flying* Rogue (second greatest of all X-people, next to the card throwing Cajun Thief, (that would be Gambit, petit ;) ): Touch ranged Ray of Enfeeblement continuous, though it doesn't work through a medium. Whenever Rogue uses this power, she gains all (Su) and (Ex) abilities of the effected creature, plus any surface memories. The abilities last 1d6 hours while the memories are permenant until Healed. |
| Sweet Steph09-28-03, 02:10 AM | Here's another. Banshee: greater shout at will Any ideas regarding Bishop, Iceman, or Magneto? |
| Vaalingrade Ashland09-28-03, 02:20 AM | Magneto: What ever he *wombat* well pleases as long as there's metal involved. And Telekinetic Shpere at will. ;) |

| Incenjucar09-28-03, 03:40 AM | "Reed Richards made Doom smoke, now look at Doom! Look at Doom! Reed Richards is the Marlboro Man! Aaargh!" |
| Dartanel09-28-03, 08:17 AM | I recall seeing Juggernaut vs. blob in that ep. Basically Blob held his ground, but the ground he was holding gave way. |
| Arilou_skiff09-28-03, 04:43 PM | I'd say: Angel just has the Winged Template (Savage Species) not the Half Celestial one. Cyclops: There's a template somewhere that can give gaze-attacks. Jéan Gray/Phoenix: Really high psion level. Iceman: Half ice-paraelemental template and a shitload of spell-likes. Rogue: I'd say that's not Ray of Enfeeblement... More Like Enervation or Energy Drain. Also, she acquires all Sp, Su, and Ex abilities of the target for a few hours. Shadowcat: Passwall at will? Perhaps Etherealness is better, she remains visible? Nightcrawler: Dimension door at will, spider climb. Storm: Druid/Air Elemental Savant with Control Weather at will. |
| Sweet Steph09-29-03, 01:46 AM | Making Kitty ethereal seems a bit too much; she shouldn't actually leave the material plane. I'd say to give her incorporeality (affecting her entire body or just a specific part) at will, noting that she must breathe as anyone else. |
| Arilou_skiff09-30-03, 02:40 PM | BTW: What ARE the powers of the Blob (except for being large?) |
| Sweet Steph09-30-03, 03:33 PM | Originally posted by Arilou_skiff BTW: What ARE the powers of the Blob (except for being large?) Clicky Clicky (http://24.188.68.181:8000/blob.html) |
| Kain Darkwind09-30-03, 05:52 PM | Gee thanks, Steph. That link has just sucked 2 hours of my time away, and threatens to take quite a bit more before it is done..... :) By the time I get through with it, I will know everything I have missed in comic books for the last 6 years, along with much more. Of course, I will also be 20 years older. :D Great site. Wish I could find one that comprehensive for DC. |
| Incenjucar09-30-03, 06:34 PM | The trick with defeating blob is not moving him, but moving the ground -under- him. His gravity abilities are fairly localized. You can't move him from where he stands, but where he stands can be moved readily. Of course, in X-Men: Evolution, he's not nearly as advanced with his powers, and, frankly, the show doesn't keep the powers the same as in the comics (Mystique should NOT be able to turn in to a wolf, much less a bird or a cat, and Toad's supposed to have sticky FINGERS, and no uber tongue, etc.) |
| Arianna Greenleaf10-01-03, 05:03 AM | Originally posted by Arilou_skiff Rogue: I'd say that's not Ray of Enfeeblement... More Like Enervation or Energy Drain. Also, she acquires all Sp, Su, and Ex abilities of the target for a few hours. I think the only thing that comes close to explaining her power is the Illithid Savant in SS. No brain eating, just touch. Maybe she has Mindflayer grandparents or something? :D |
| canamrock10-01-03, 10:25 AM | Technically, the best way to describe Rogue's powers is a mutilated form of Shapechange. That is, she takes the abilities from others and gains them herself, although her physical appearance does not change. Even that's only a close analog, however. |
| Sweet T10-01-03, 02:26 PM | recently in the comics, rogue has begun taking on minor physical appearances of the people she touches, such as a bluish skin tint from nightcrawler, white hair from magneto, etc. the changes are only temporary. |
| Sweet T10-02-03, 02:14 PM | Originally posted by Arilou_skiff I'd say: Iceman: Half ice-paraelemental template and a shitload of spell-likes. Where's that template from? |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast10-02-03, 03:06 PM | I'm guessing its an alteration of the Half-Elemental template from the Manual of the Planes. |
| DarkSoldier10-03-03, 06:12 PM | Originally posted by Sweet T recently in the comics, rogue has begun taking on minor physical appearances of the people she touches, such as a bluish skin tint from nightcrawler, white hair from magneto, etc. the changes are only temporary. That's because she absorbed a Skrull a while back, and Skrulls are natural shapechangers. She now spontaneously manifests the powers of everyone she's absorbed. |
