Shemeska the Marauder 01-28-05, 10:06 AM	Some various Planescape books. Specifically, the Planescape Monstrous Compendium I, IIRC. 'On Hallowed Ground' may have some details of how they work alongside various deities, and they get mentioned throughout all the various Planes of Law/Chaos/Conflict box sets, though never too specifically since they're not native to a single set of planes other than the upper planes in general. There's always 'Warriors of Heaven' but the general consensus I've found is that the book sucks something fierce, not as much as 'Guide to Hell', but it's pretty bad.

If you want numbers, PrCs, and crunch, the BoED has that. But it doesn't have history, detail, ecology, background, etc. And, in the words of one of the BoED authors, certain material was changed, ignored, rewritten, etc because he was too lazy to look up the previous material. Funny how that particular chat wasn't ever put up in the archives here. ;) Overall I'd give the book a 5/10 (6/10 when only compared to 3e books).

CzarGarrett 01-31-05, 09:44 AM	Technically, you can look outside of actual D&D stuff and check out various mytholigical and theological books. I'm sure there's a lot of fluff about angels that you can apply to the specific D&D angel types.

But if your determined to use them for things other then something for the players to hack apart then check out hte Book of Exalted deeds. The book isn't that bad and shouldn't have the warning thing on it. I think the worst I saw in it was a little blood.
Dackad 01-31-05, 09:24 PM	Check out Anger of Angels by Malhavoc Press. It deals more with mythological angels as opposed to the rather non-mythological D&D angels.

The whole "For Mature Gamers" sticker was because they meant that you were supposed to be a mature person to use the book. And because they knew they'd sell more copies if they stuck the sticker on it.

Lung_Mua 02-09-05, 07:33 PM	ok ok i'll conceed to the Book of Exalted Deeds being a bit veauge but if you really want to go into detail you will need to compare mutlipule reffrences both from 3.0 ad&d and the origonal in addition you will need to compare things from the real world ie myths and such. The problems inherent in this are purely that you need to be a really really good DM to actualy read all of these things and have them cullminate into something useful. If you ait seasoned and you aint be in the game as a dm for at least 5 years you have a really good chance to get lost. trust me i'v been dming for 6 years and i still get confused occasonaly when doing conversion of this nature and unless you want to listen to the smilely --> :teach: and be taught by it then try something smaller first
