Thx and sorry for all the question. thank you for hearing me out :) |
| smeagol_lied04-03-07, 02:07 PM | You get one animal companion It's an animal companion. Consult splatbooks and/or nicely ask your DM if you want to diversify. You can ride on your animal companion. With wild shape, you can turn into any animal with HD less than/equal to your druid levels (don't wuote me on that one) |
| Bladesinger Boy04-03-07, 02:11 PM | The 3.5 rules say only one animal companion. 3.0 allowed splitting up HitDice to different animals, but no more. There is a feat somewhere to boost your effective druid level in terms of animal companion by 3 levels. If you compare more potent creatures vs druid level buffing your animal companions, it usually way more effective to get a more potent animal (ie. when faced with getting a Brown Bear with +3 druid levels of stat buffs and special abilities or a Dire Bear, go for the Dire Bear). There is a 3.0 prestige Class, Shaper maybe?, that allowed changing into magical beasts. No other sources allow Wild Shaping into magical beasts, be they standard Druid abilities or feats. If you are one size smaller than your mount, you can usually ride it. For instance, a halfling could ride a Wolf (medium sized), or a Half-Orc could ride a Brown Bear (large sized). You might have to make ride checks not to fall off of flying mounts. Some creatures don't allow it, like Centaurs HATE to be ridden even by good friends. |

Its out of dungeonscape but available in the preview (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20070209a&page=4). There is also a PrC in complete adventurer that lets you get multiple animal companions |

Note that the Fleshraker is an "animal", so the definition of what an an "animal" is has pretty much been knocked out of its orbit. Think I'll make up a dinosaur with three heads and wings that breathes happy gas and can squirt EZ-Cheese out of its nostrils, because hey, you can't prove that it DIDN'T exist! - Ron ^*^ |

The Fleshraker is an animal with poisonous claws. Nothing about it violates the definition of the Animal type, which does not require the creature to exist. Seriously, that has got to be the single most insipid post I've read on any forum all day. |
