05-16-07, 01:51 PM which animals are the best animal companions fior their tiers? (each teir being the -3, -6, -9 and so forth)

for the (-3) i'd have to go with Dire Bat. fourth lvl character with a mount that has flight.

anyone have some opinions?

05-16-07, 02:20 PM for the (-6) i'd eiher go with dire boar. it does well in combat, has scent. and has good movement speed.

for the (-9) polar bear all the way. with 3 attack with a better than decent attack roll, it does phenomenal damage. it has both a 40ft land speed, and a 30 swim speed. did i mention they can tank?

and the (-12) is most definatly. elephant is good any evrything, but dire bear can kick it's butt. moderate hitpoint, great attack and damage. an ok movespeed, but a good grapple for it's imp grab.

Lastly the (-15) not much choice here ,but tyrannosaurus and dire tiger just cant out do the tricerotops. they're all basically the same, but the trike has a trample, and it's one of things where you either AoO OR reflex for half. and close to epic lvl that you'd be, the thing your fighting is at a disadvantage

05-16-07, 11:18 PM 1st lv - crocodile (but hard to acquire) or riding dog trained for war (simply because they have the best stats)

4th lv (-3) - fleshraker dinosaur from MM3 (especially deadly if you have the venomfire spell from serpent kingdoms) or ape. Dire bat is not bad for flight, but its speed is darn slow, and in a pinch, you still have SNA.

7th lv (-6) - probably brown bear.
