| runestar06-12-05, 10:33 AM | I know about Malkizid the fallen solar, but have there been any mention of any specific risen fiends? Can anyone please direct me to any possible sources of fluff/stats whatsoever? Thanks in advance. |
| Raymond_Luxury_Yacht06-12-05, 10:50 AM | Fall (or Fell) -From-Grace is an LN Succubus, although I can't remember if she was from an offical product or from PS: Torment. |
| Judicator Shekar06-12-05, 03:17 PM | The most interesting (by far) risen fiend is Talamacus (Referred to as Tall Tally by some). This is an Osyluth described in detail in the 2E PS supplement Planes of Conflict. Essentially, as all Osyluths, Talamacus was an enforcer of the dark law in Baator. After apprehending a wrongdoer, he showed the person mercy (the specifics of this tale are unclear). This action was enough to bring the wrath of the Hells upon him, and the faithless Osyluth was banished from the land of Asmodeus. He ended up in the city of Vorekhan, on Acheron, which serves as the headquarters of the Mercykiller faction. While not a mercykiller himself, the faction lets him rule the city due to his very strict view of the law and his cruel determination to punish wrongdoers (his skill at running the city is also quite impressive). "So, why is he cruel and evil if he's risen???", I hear you ask. Well, he doesn't want to be risen, he wants to be back in Hell. As Planes of Conflict states, "He was banished for showing mercy, a mistake he has made sure never to repeat". Hope that helps. |
| runestar06-12-05, 10:35 PM | That would technically make him a fallen fiend, but yeah, sometimes the distinction is overly fine. |
| Shemeska the Marauder06-13-05, 01:35 AM | There are of course the rumors regarding A'kin the Arcanaloth, aka 'The Friendly Fiend' in Sigil. Those rumors hold that he's a risen fiend of some sort, though the truth of the matter is that he's not, at all, he's just genuinely friendly to people and puts up a good act of being pleasant. There's another yugoloth in one of the adventures in 'Well of Worlds' who was an arcanaloth who was stripped of her powers in a political struggle in Gehenna and was probably ripe for eventually rising towards neutrality or eventually good, but she hadn't made that slide yet. There's a group of risen fiends and fallen celetials (all some type of neutral alignment) known as the Gray Legion (IIRC) but I don't recall any specific names of their members at the moment. |

| Shemeska the Marauder06-13-05, 11:46 AM | Seems all the examples given are limited to the planescape setting. Is this phenomena confined solely to planescape? No, it's just that Planescape only concerned itself with the planes of DnD, not really the prime material where the other settings were contained. As such, those other settings weren't really going to have the number of fiends lurking around to the point that you might find one or two that were risen. |

| Shemeska the Marauder06-13-05, 02:12 PM | Thinking about it, risen as in gone to a higher station in life, could be Gargaroth in FR. Was an Arch-Devil, now a Lesser God. Depends on if you think him having gotten to a high place than he was. Gargauth only became a demigod after he failed in a coup against Asmodeus and was exiled from Baator on threat of death should he ever return. *chuckle* |
