| shaselai01-12-05, 06:21 PM | I am thinking of being a thrallherd and i want to get a pretty female or male monster as a thrall (the team gotta look pretty :)). Any suggestions? Alignment doesnt matter but i dont think i would want something like a succubus or dryad :D |
| Millenia01-12-05, 06:37 PM | I'd suggest looking at the celestials (such as archons, devas, angels, ect), as they're generally thought of as being pretty and stuff, the Erinyes, maybe any shapeshifters (as they can become pretty for as long as you want them to be), Lillend, Nymphs... Elemental Weirds look kinda pretty from the art... Jahi... Sylph... Sirine... Justicator... *Is just getting the monster names from the Monster Manual galleries* >> |
| obrysii01-12-05, 09:37 PM | A Mermaid, perhaps. Or a dragon alternate form'ed into what you preceive as attractive |
| Keenath01-13-05, 04:08 PM | Yeah, I was going to suggest a young shapeshifting dragon. Of course, first you have to dominate a dragon, which isn't that easy even when they're young... Furthermore, all the shapeshifter dragons are metallic, which means enslaving a good creature -- depending on your alignment that could be a problem, but most Thallherds aren't that interested in ANYbody else's wellfare, or they wouldn't be gathering thralls. Anyway. A dragon is a good idea for this, 'cause then it's pretty when you want, and ferocious when you want. |
| shaselai01-13-05, 10:24 PM | Thats interesting... How do i know if a dragon is male or female? i guess by voice? Dryad's cant go far without their trees and mermaid... dont i need to carry a pool of water for her to survive? maybe have a demigod as a thrall? |
| obrysii01-13-05, 10:35 PM | Thats interesting... How do i know if a dragon is male or female? Well, in human form it can be either, and in dragon form it's not like it has visable physical differences...so what's it matter? |
| Ualaa01-13-05, 11:53 PM | With Thrallherd, you're not dominating anything; they're showing up of their own volition out of an inborn desire for you to lead them. I don't see how having a good thrall would inherently be evil in the least; on the contrary, allowing an evil thrall to remain, would be more evil then allowing a good one to remain. If your thrall should die, within 24 hours another creature will show up craving your leadership. Its a natural feature of the class and does not involve coercion, domination, charming or the like. |
| Lanky Ogre Baggy Pants01-14-05, 12:10 AM | Excuse my ignorance but where is thrallheard? I have never heard of this PrC. |
| shaselai01-14-05, 12:56 AM | Thrallherd is the PrC from Expanded Psionic handbook. I guess you could say a PrC focused on minions.... I guess I can always ask a dragon what sex he/she is :D ... Anyway, are there any other kind of monsters out there with reasonable ECL so i can have it as a thrall? I am L10 btw so I can have a L9 max |
| Greyman01-14-05, 01:01 AM | The Thrallheard may be found in both the Expanded Psionics Handbook, and the System Reference Guide (http://www.wizards.com/d20/files/v35/PsionicClasses.rtf). |
| SmokeShadow01-14-05, 01:19 AM | Succubus and Erinyes. C'mon man, hawt *and* evil is the best combo ever. |
| shaselai01-14-05, 01:49 AM | hmmm i think i will pass on those 2.... i dont think having DEMONS is a good 1st impression anywhere (at our levels :))..... Plus succubus is just too.... |
| Tevish Szat01-14-05, 02:44 AM | Dare i suggest Nymph? aside from that, well, you could get a doppleganger and have it look like whatever or whoever you want it to. for the ultimate shapeshifter, try a Malaugrym (Monsters of Faerun) if you cna hold one. |
| Lokiyn01-14-05, 03:09 AM | remember the DM chooses the thrall and the believers so you'd better bring a pizza and reveal it when you ask for your new thrall. (oh and polymorph any object is a good spell to get a wiz to cast if you wind up with a level nine badger or something) |
| digoraccoon01-14-05, 08:49 AM | C'mon man, hawt *and* evil is the best combo ever. I'll agree. :D |

I don't see how having a good thrall would inherently be evil in the least; on the contrary, allowing an evil thrall to remain, would be more evil then allowing a good one to remain. Oof, I'm sorry. I was thinking of the Mindbender from Complete Arcane, which DOES dominate its followers. |

Actually, when one becomes a thrallherd, he or she realeases a mental signal. This signal reacts in some creatures brains, binding them to the thrallherd's will. By the way, do you know WHAT a thrall is? It's a creature dominated by another. That's why mindflayer's call everyone else the "thrall races." |
| shaselai01-14-05, 04:54 PM | I am trying to get an ECL 9 monster, any suggestions? |
| Lokiyn01-14-05, 07:40 PM | please note you have no control over your thrall, that said your most likely to pick up a humanoid of a race similar to yours due to a higher mental congruency. Note that what your doing is exploiting a natrual weakness in some peoples minds and directing thier desires for some one else to deal with thier problems in life (or for someone to serve) and directing thier impulses to serving you. |
| Viashino_wizard01-14-05, 08:09 PM | The most obvius answer is- temmplates. Half-celestials are especially good here because they always look "pretty." Or you could use a sphinx. |
| sabrewolf01-14-05, 10:32 PM | The most obvius answer is- temmplates. Half-celestials are especially good here because they always look "pretty." ..i agree on that... templates.. and even if itīs a normal creature with a lower ecl in the beguining.. some templates are not as hard to get using quests.. just get the right rite for it or a wish.. and a look on the Savage Species might help on that... My suggestion for a thrall? a quaggoth (from MoF... white furred critter from the underdark.. can even be an arcane spell caster)... eh, maybe itīs just me, yannow, a wolf... but just cant resist some fur with it.. heheehhh... add a half celestion for high charisma and you have good curves bessides fur.. heehheheh.. :D |
| Shemeska the Marauder01-14-05, 11:44 PM | C'mon man, hawt *and* evil is the best combo ever. "Yes, yes it is, and I know it." http://arcanofox.foxpaws.net/shemmywink.gif |
| Lokiyn01-14-05, 11:45 PM | players cant choose thier thralls, they are chosen from what's avalible, unless you hang out in the natural habitats of these creatures you're not getting one. Unless of course you get special permission from the DM. |
| Viashino_wizard01-20-05, 06:49 PM | You could ask your DM do produce pretty monsters... if he (or she) is nice, that shouldn't be a problem. |
| Ogre4Hire01-21-05, 01:59 PM | If you're just looking for physical appearance, I've got 3 words: Hat Of Disguise. Get yourself as big and nasty a thrall as you can, then slap one of those babies on his head and ba-da-bing! He looks as pretty as you want. |
