This is a request, nay, a plea, for anybody out there who is good at making monsters and remembers the old Aladdin cartoon series that used to be on, circa 1993-1994.

In the series, there used to be a creature called the muktar. The muktar were apparently, an ancient race who fought many fierce battles against the genies centuries ago. The muktar in the show was the last of his kind, forced to selling his services as a bounty hunter, specialising in tracking down and capturing genies.

The muktar had scaly skin, spoke with a rasping voice, dressed in furs and rode a strange creature that appeared to be the result of an unholy union between a wyvern and an ostrich! He wielded a scimitar and had many magical items at his disposal, including magical manacles which turned into chomping mouths.

But that's enough nostalgia for now. Further information can be found on this most excellent site (http://www.streetrat.net/ae/muktar.php) along with information on several other cool villains from the series.

So, what I'm really asking, oh wise and clever Internet monster-makers out there in Internetland, is, if you wouldn't mind... Perhaps you could help me out by statting up this intriguing creature? I'd very much like to include him in my campaign. Pretty please?

Yeah, I remember that episode! It had one eye and sort of looked like a cross between a pig and an armadillo. You had to put an anti-magic collar on it to stop it, right? :)

There were so many cool monsters in that show!

There was also that one woman/creature that lived by the sea and had that pet guy called Armon...she turned men into sea creatures to serve her...how I remember this, I don't know

Mechanikles was the coolest villain ever.

My favorite was the serpant with the cloud-wings (or maybe they were just black wings?) that could talk and always harassed Iago.

Bring on a lizardman, adapt it to desert life by giving it a few feats to survive the desert hazards (Shining South may be of use), and give it a Magic's Scent ability so it may 'sniff out' magic in a 20-30 foot radius.

Aladdin... Why does it bring to mind Mechanicles? Why does Mechanicles bring to mind a Kingdom Hearts bonus boss... Kurt Zisa?

Reminds me to put that son-of-a-gun on paper :D

Damn, I wonder if they released these to DVD...

I remember they had a wingged serpent in 2nd ed which was based off of the same myth but it was a bit different and I don't know if they brought it back to 3rd ed.

Malcho was his name.

Yes, indeed, Malcho. Sworn enemy of Thundra, the rain bird, Iago's Brazilian paramour!

Well, Malcho shouldn't be too hard to stat up. After all, he's just an evil coatl, really. Give him a couple of electricity-based attacks, since I seem to remember him controlling lightning, and the job's a good'un.

There was also that one woman/creature that lived by the sea and had that pet guy called Armon...she turned men into sea creatures to serve her...how I remember this, I don't know

Yep, I remember her too. She was a mermaid, I think, which was quite a clever angle for Disney, especially since the Aladdin TV series was shown at around about the same time as the Little Mermaid TV series. I seem to recall there being some joke about her dyeing Princess Jasmine's hair red and then saying, derisively, "She looks like every other princess under the sea..."

There were so many good monsters and villains in that show worth statting up.

There were the mamluks, Mozenrath's shambling undead servants, who continued to fight on even if their arms and legs were missing.

And then there was the cat-headed (yet strangely alluring...) Mirage, who I can see as being an aspect of Bast, emphasising her cruelty and cunning.

And, of course, we can't forget Xerxes, Mozenrath's boss-eyed, dim-witted flying lamprey familiar.

Mechanicles was my favorite villian, too, although I can't help but wonder about the thing with creepy-crawlies (that one hypnotic robot, Gregarious, was just about the only thing he made that wasn't arthropod-shaped).

Hmmm... Mechanicles was most definately an artificer (if there are any construct-crafting feats beyond Craft Construct, he probably had all those, too); Mozenrath is probably a necromancer - one of those people who doesn't believe in things that man was not ment to meddle with.

Of course, Jafar may actually be the one who started the no-such-thing-as-a-good-Grand-Vizier thing. Sorcerer or enchanter, probably, with a few levels of aristocrat.

Anyone remember that horrible Hercules crossover? Started with Pain and Panic running across Jafar in line for the Underworld.

(Please excuse my spelling)

Ah, thank you! I was trying to think of the name of that guy a few weeks ago when I had the idea to stat him out, especially that glove, or was it his magic, that burned away all his skin on his hand, leaving him a skeletal one in its place.

Speaking of Mechanikles, am I the only one who got Aladdin flashbacks as soon as I say the Clockwork Horrors from Monster Manual II?

My guess is that Mechanicles is a high-level Human Artificer with the Exceptional Artisan, Extraorinary Artisan and Legendary Artisan and the Craft Construct feat(s) :twocents:

I loved all the funky villians and ancient evils that were always running around on that show. The sand witches, that big evil lion fire demon etc.

I remember the huge fire demon, Amok. Demanded tribute or destroy the city. Very balor-like.

The sand shark was cool, especially the roar it had.

I also remember a T Rex on the show.

I don't remember seeing the episode with the mermaid, though.

Just one? The Cat Goddes had a couple, the blind guy had a couple. Chaos had downright 5 and altered reality on the Prime Material.

the blind guy

D'you mean Fezir? Fashoom's brother? Yeah, he was cool.

I remember the end of that one episode, where he was just walking away, cackling; "Don't worry, Aladdin... Fezir will keep an eye out for you..." whereupon he removed his blindfold to reveal... [gasp] HE WAS A CYCLOPS!

I remember my young self being slightly creeped out by that. ;)

Oh, and as for Chaos, that guy was pure cool on toast! I'd say he has three or four divine ranks, at least. After all, 'he has more magic in his little whisker than an entire palace full of genies'!

I'd say more then a diety or a least a maxed out one. Mirage would also be a diety or at least a very powerful wizard / sorceror. Although Feziz is here equal I would also consider him a diety.

yeah I saw that too.

Great bunch of villains in that show, and a lot of great artifacts too. My favorite was the miniature flying sun. There's something the level 20 wizard won't see coming; a face full of sun!

Does anyone remember the one where they went to China, and met shy fella, Zin, and his evil twin brother, Zang?

They had two amulets, when when united, transformed the two of them into a dragon, which depending upon who was in control, was either a raging red dragon (Zang) or a peaceful silver dragon (Zin).

Very cool.

My info has Bast as an artistic goddess for music, dancing and signing. Also a protector of pregnant women. Then there's yet another section of notes that has Bast as the protector of cats. Bah, these gods take up too many jobs. :D

Mirage was one of my favorite villians. I liked the idea of playing on peoples' fears and nightmares. I have a modern game idea that involves pitting the PCs up against her. :)
