Ok, first off, this is not a monster that the PC's are to directly fight.

It will be attacking a town, they will see if from ~A mile away, with the idea being, if they can kill it, town is saved, if not, town destroyed, but either/or, the PC's will be alive.

I am not using Epic Advancement rules, but I will be using epic feats.

Here we go...

Apocalypse Ooze
Gargantuan+ Ooze

Hit Dice: -100d10+1100 (1650 HP)
Initiative: -2
Speed 15: Ft
Armour Class: 1 (-2 dex, -8 Size)

Skills -
Feats: Improved Natural Attack(B), Awesome Blow(B)
Environment: (Special)
Organization: Unique
CR: No Idea
Treasure: Small armies worth of weapons and armour
Alignment: Neutral

Acid (Ex): An Apocalypse Ooze's Acid does not harm Metal, but does eat through stone, at half damage.

Engulf (ex): Same as with an Gelatinous Cube, but no reflex save

Augmented Critical (Ex): The Slam attack of an Apocalypse ooze has a crit range of 18~20 x3

Dispelling Burst (Su): On a critical hit, an Apocalypse Ooze can make a Dispel Check (Caster level 10) on the Target, as the spell, Dispel Magic

Anti-Magic Body (Ex): The center of an Apocalypse Ooze emits an Anti Magic field. If one is engulfed by the Ooze for more then 3 rounds, all the victims magic equipment ceases to function, nor can they cast spells to get out.

----------------------------

The party is a pretty spugged out group, currently level 9.

There is a:
Wizard
Warlock
Paladin
Spelltheif
(Unknown, new player).

As well, the town will have
4 Heavy Ballistas
6 Light Ballistas
6 Mangonels
Adult Silver Dragon

However, there will be more then 1 threat, and the PC's will get to divide up the towns resources.

I have already asked the players if they felt up to fighting a monster with over 1000HP, and they all felt pretty confidant, though they didn't know what it was.

The battle will be happening over a mile long field, and will end if the Apocalypse Ooze gets to the city.

How are the stats, what "CR" Would it be given the scenario, and how much distance should I give it? at a mile, that is 48 turns worth of double moving.

Thanks guys!

Uhm... you're sending this up against level 9 PCs? Yikes, and I thought my Uber-fox was unkind. Anyways, lemme see here...

This thing has 1650 HP. That's massive. Of course, this is modified by an AC of dirt. It's also immune to piercing damage, which means that bows, (the most common ranged weapon,) will not harm it, forcing the PC's to use either catapults, slings, large rocks, or throwing weapons that do slashing damage.
Ballistae are ginormous crossbows, so they deal piercing damage... the town's weapons aren't really gonna help in this case, huh? The silver dragon could conceivably kill it single handedly, given a long time just breathing on it while staying out of reach... but 9th level PCs simply won't have the ammo, or spells to take it out at range. At melee, the thing's average damage will be about 61 points of damage, and did I mention it cannot miss? Slaughter.

If it wasn't for the time limit, yeah, a 9th level party could demolish the thing, if they had the resources to bludgeon the thing to death from a distance, it'd just take a really, really, really, really long time. CR wise, it depends entirely on how it's used. If you've got infinite space to move, it's not going to pose too much of a challenge, kinda like the teratomorph in the MM2. If you're forced to stand up and fight it, the CR will be pretty darn high.

Well, thats the thing, they have rods of empower, and maximise, everyone can fly, and it is over a field.

I rule that Ballista damage wuld work against the ooze, because though it is technically peircing, it is not quite the same as an arrow...
And the things reach is more then that of the breath weapon of the dragon. This is intentional...

Even if they have those rods, you realize that they'll still run out of spell long before dropping it to triple digits, right? Secondly, ballistae don't do nearly enough damage to be able to kill the thing in time, I think. The dragon will die eh? Ah well. I still don't see this as remotely viable for 9th level characters. Maybe 17th or so sure, but at 9th, I dunno.

Hmm... if smells like a Total Party Kill to me, unless they are smart and let the thing eat the town... Let me know how this goes.
