Hi guys,

I've got a question regarding the celestial or fiendish template when applied to vermin.

Both templates state that the new creature keeps all special qualities, and most vermin are mindless, thus have no Int score. Both templates also state that the new creature has at least Int 3.

So are celestial/fiendish vermin intelligent or aren't they?

The specific changes noted trump extant traits.

Fiendish/Celestial Vermin are now Magical Beasts with 3 int - although they keep other Vermin traits.

Yup, they are now sentient creatures capable of making and carrying out simple plans, and can have long term goals.

I thought so as well... is there a section of the rulebooks which clearly says so?

And they get skill points due to their new-won intelligence...

I don’t know what long term goals you can have with int 3
It reminds my of two mousses I once know pinky and brain

It reminds my of two mousses I once know pinky and brain Long term goals don't have to be complex. You can have a long term goal of "Getting all the shiney stuff I can" or "Make sure nobody steals this shiney thing".

Which would be a hell of a lot better if they had any class skills.

I would say anything small or larger develops intelligence, and anything smaller than that develops a sort of fiendish or celestial hive-mind.

Mmmm....a swarm of black widows, with white and gold substituted for the black and red, all moving as one creature. It just doesn't get much better.
