I've been reading some of the latest FR fiction, and it seems that Fang Dragons have suddenly become increadably popular, showing up on a more regular basis than many of the chromatics. Now, I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that they did exist in 2E, so does anyone have ideas as to why they've suddenly started popping up all over the place?

Whilst I've never played 2E, my first DM gave me his first MM(or Compendium, can't remember, I'd have to go look) which was 2E, I don't think Fangs were ever in 2E.

Fang dragons came out in the Monstrous Compendium Annuals (number 1 or 2 I think)...

The Only place I've seen a fang dragon in FR literature lately was Elminster's Daughter. Where else? Probably the Year of Rogue Dragons trilogy (I only bought the first one).
