| pileobone03-21-06, 02:20 AM | Have you ever had a burning desire to stick your players into an easily escapable situation involving an overly elaborate and exotic death? Well now you can! While these are not sharks with "frickin" LASER beams attached to their heads (i'm working on those), they are the next best thing.....sea bass. Mutated sea bass. And are they ill tempered you ask? Oh, you better believe it!! As always, honest opinions and rule/flavor/general critiques are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks! Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass Tiny Aberration(Aquatic) Hit Dice: 1/2d8 (2) Initiative: +5 Speed: 5 ft. (1 squares), swim 40 ft. Fish jump to and fro chasing minnows and insects along the waters surface. Suddenly a flash! A streak of silver light! A fish shoots out of the water directly at you, gnashing little teeth gnawing you. Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass are the result of a bizarre experiment. Their creator’s true name is lost, only his disturbing alias Dr. Evil remains to this day. Ferocious little beasts; lively and quick, they attempt to devour anything they come across. These fish have become famous for their ability to leap long distances out of the water, and are used by many evil geniuses as a peculiar means of torture and execution. An Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass is about 1-1/2 ft. long and weighs roughly a pound. Combat: Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass are brash and fearless despite their size and Strength. They charge fearlessly into combat regardless of their ability to win. They are uncaring as to whether their opponents are above or below water and will quickly leap after a foe that flees to the shore, heedless of their inability to breathe out of water. Ill Tempered(Ex): As a free action, an Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass can enter a state of very ill temperedness. For the duration of the encounter, the Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass has a +2 Str and Con, and a –2 AC.. Fish Out of Water(Ex): An Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass is capable of launching itself an incredible distance from the water in order to pursue it's foes. As a full round action an Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass can launch itself at an opponent that is out of the water and attempt a bite attack. The distance an Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass can launch itself is equal to half the distance that it traveled towards the surface. The Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass must move in a straight line, and cannot exceed it’s normal movement. For example, an Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass has spotted a bird in a branch 10 ft. above it. In order to reach this branch the Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass must move at least 20 ft. towards the surface of the water in a straight line, it can then travel 10 ft. through the air and make a normal bite attack against the bird. Should an Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass come to rest on dry land after it’s flight, it's speed is reduced to 5 ft. and it begins suffocating on it’s next turn. Mutated(Ex): An Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass deals bite damage as a creature one size category larger than itself. Skills: . An Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass receives a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or threatened. It can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line An Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass uses its Dexterity modifier instead of its Strength on Swim checks. AND The Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass Swarm Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass Swarm Tiny Aberration (Aquatic, swarm) Hit Dice: 7d10+3 (34) Initiative: +5 Speed: Swim 40 ft. Hideously mutated sea bass begin leaping up and taking small bites out of you. In a natural setting it is extremely rare to find enough Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass to form a swarm; therefore the most common place one is found is in the keeping of evil masterminds, who use them to extract information and vengeance upon their enemies. Combat: A swarm of Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass is a deadly foe indeed. They are capable of stripping a full sized human in less than a minute. Also, due to their Ill Tempered attitudes, Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass can rarely wait for their prey to find it’s way into the water, so there are always over-excited Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass leaping out of the swarm to try and get an early meal. Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass that leap from the swarm continue to attack on their own to the best of their ability. Skills: . An Ill Tempered Mutated Sea Bass Swarm receives a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or threatened. | Kraleck03-21-06, 09:10 AM | :heehee  You must be slightly insane or incredibly brilliant. Maybe they should be aberrations if they are mutated. 8/10 :dancin: |
| pileobone03-21-06, 09:17 AM | :D ya know I hadn't thought of aberration. It might just fit it better after all. |
| pileobone03-21-06, 02:02 PM | Update: Changed types to aberrations. Update: Added in size bonus to attack. |
| Darko03-21-06, 04:27 PM | I am so using this on my players! Thanks man! |
| pileobone03-21-06, 10:04 PM | ;) Not a problem, happy to be of service! |
| talkingbeatles03-21-06, 10:22 PM | This is amazing man. Almost as good as the Dire Platypus I saw a while back, if not better. |
| was_fired03-22-06, 05:00 AM | Well done. |
| Secrets Untold03-22-06, 01:38 PM | Wow. Evil fish...that's great! Please work on the Laser Sharks, I want to see those. |
| KublaiKhan03-22-06, 02:37 PM | I love it! Especially the "organization" line on the swarm.... ;) |
| Gopher03-22-06, 05:22 PM | This is amazing man. Almost as good as the Dire Platypus I saw a while back, if not better. You must post a link to that for me. Hilarious creation, I love it. |
| Olly03-24-06, 03:56 AM | What the hell are these? I had a very simple request that I... requested. And that was the have sharks with frickin' laserbeams attached to their heads!! Now, evidently, my cycloptic collegue informs me that that is not possible... ;) |
| R.M.G.C.L.F.04-11-06, 11:49 AM | "Mutated" special quality means nothing. If you have an attack that deals more than normal damage for the size, fine, the MM only gives suggested stuff. Try something more significant, like fast healing, energy resistance, or something else. |
| pileobone04-11-06, 12:13 PM | Hmmmm, I'll think on that. Not sure what I oughta give them, don't think fast healing would do them much good at a massive 2hp tho. :) |
