Aren't there something wrong with the Dread Harpoon Spider [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-02-05, 04:28 AM This maybe an old issue, but aren't there something wrong with the full attack and the attack stats regarding the Dread Harpoon Spider in Monster Manual III page 81. And if anybody knows what the correct stats are, your welcome to post your reply. Thanks.

Well you do not gain an additional attacks because of BAB with natural weapons, so he still only has 1 bite and 2 fangs. As for the attacks, they are correct:

+6 BAB, -2 size, +7 strength = +11 for bite

+6 BAB, -2 size, +3 dexterity = +7 for fangs

02-02-05, 08:37 AM I have looked into the Errata for this monster, and there are a correction regarding Hit Points, but I believe the ranged attack for his 2 fangs should be higher than +2, since the lesser Harpoon Spider has +6. Further it does not say if his range attacks are touch, which I think they are. I think they are touch because they just ned to hit, but I'm also a bit confused, because the text says "hooks the flesh. Are there any who have played this fellow against a group before, so please help me out.

Thanks for that. The text in the book says +2 so I correct the fangs to +7. Do you know if the attacks are touch? I have posted something regarding that, just before I saw your post. Thanks again.

Because it says this I believe it would be a normal attack roll, you cannot hit a creatures flesh if they are wearing a layer of metal over-top of it.
