PF's Regenerate unless hit with "Good" weapons. But What about a "Bane" weapon? It is Lawful, so would a Lawful Outsider Bane Weapon cause "real" damage to it????

No. Why would it? Get the cleric to cast Bless Weapon on the sword and you're good to go. Hope you are epic level.

No, because Good and Lawful are two different things completely. It says nothing about the damage from Lawful weapons, correct? If it doesn't say you can, then you can't. Its not reall an ambiguity in this case.

But why would a bane weapon NOT cause damage to a creature that was 'baned'??

Its infused with magic to guide your swing to a more vunerable area that is less armored and that will cause the creature more damage (hence +2 and 2d6 damage). It does not infuse the weapon with the ability to penetrate the creature's thick hide or stop its skin from healing the wound.

The best way to get past this is make it holy.

Because "Bane" isn't a special type of damage. The Pit Fiend takes normal damage when hit by a good aligned weapon. That's it. What else is there to explain? I don't see why that's hard to understand.

A good aligned weapon will get through the Pit Fiend's regeneration. A lawful weapon doesn't. Why? Because the rules say so. That's it. Period. Finito. That simple.
