05-11-04, 12:37 PM So i was wondering, the Minotaur says it has a plus 6 to BA which would bring i.e. a 6th lvl minotaur ftr to 12/7/2 or would it just be 12/7. Does that extra BA add more attacks?

05-11-04, 12:50 PM When using manufactured weapons, monsters use the same base attack rules people do. For instance, a Minotaur with +6 bab from monster HD and +6 bab from levels of fighter would attack with an axe at +12/+7/+2. Natural weapons follow different rules, though iirc a natural attack can be added to the routine at -5 standard (ie axe +12/+7/+2 and gore +7)

05-11-04, 02:17 PM I asked this question because i was wanting to play in a 10th lvl group with an 8th lvl minotaur ftr but that seems still like that extra BAB should make its lvl adj. higher than what it is (lvl 2 adjustment). If i roll up an 18 that would mean my strl. would be 28 (if i added the two ability boosts into str for my lvl). That would make my melee attacks 14/9/4 adding in str it would be 23/18/13. That seems entirely too overpowered.

05-11-04, 02:47 PM To play a minotaur, you have a +2 LA, as well as Racial 'levels'/ a minotaur has what, 6 HD? theplayer would be an ECL 8 and have NO class levels at level 8.

05-11-04, 10:07 PM fist is right, when figuring out the ECL for a critter, you cant just go with the lvl adjustment...you add the number of bonus HD with the lvl adj...giving a grand total of...8 ECL

1 for the unbalanced ability scores
1 for the natural armor
and 6 for the HD (critter lvls)

05-11-04, 10:42 PM I always thought it was +1 for the unbalanced ability scores and +1 for the Gore rather than the natural armor. By that level the natural armor is starting to lose a bit of it's thunder. The total is still right though, regardless of the derivation.

05-11-04, 10:45 PM i was actually thinking it would be +1 foe both..making it a 9 ECL..but that seems slightly unfair...even with an * ECL it seems slightly outmatched by the other PC's
