When you use the Awaken Undead spell on a non-intelligent undead to give it an intelligence score, that undead creature gains feats, right? So...if it gets feats at the standard rate of 1 per 3HD, and that it's already got all its HD which means it's already got given base attack and save bonuses, can it just choose feats that it qualifies for? Say I awaken an undead creature that has 12 HD. Could the creature just have 5 feats that require a BAB of +6?

I would say... yes. By hit dice, yes. And skill points to balance the deficit of anything they don't already have as part of their race (listen, spot, etc).

While it's not specified, I think it's dangerous to say the newly intelligent undead could learn any feat from the spell. Since the spell specifies that undead regain weapon & armor proficiencies that had in life and that the recover racial abilities from life, I think the same guideline should apply to feats. Allow them to regain feats they had while alive.

The furthest I would stretch that to would be to permit them to learn feats known to the caster. In any case, they must meet the usual prerequisites.

I would say yes. I asked something like this earlier, asking if they could take class levels, and got a yes, so I just figure treat them as a PC in most terms

If I were to have awakened undead as a DM or if a PC in my game wanted to create some, I would rule that they may begin taking class levels upon being awakened, and gain feats that way, but they would not gain retroactive feats based on pre-existing HD

No, no more than a regular character can, you can't save feats. That undead got feats at levels 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12, and had bab of 0, 1, 3, 4 and 6, so they could only take a feat with prereq +6 once, at level 12.
