I mean being bigger doesn't necessarly make you a better fighter 2. Why does size give you a penalty to BAB? If anything it seems like it should give you a bonus since if your fist/claw/mouth etc is bigger it would be easier to hit something |
| Tyler Do'Urden01-01-07, 11:49 PM | BAB is based on Hit Dice. Hit Dice are not based on size, it's the other way around; size is (often) based on racial HD. Therefore the connection between size and BAB is just a coincidence. Size doesn't give you a penalty to BAB, it gives you a penalty to attacks and AC. It gives you a penalty to AC because larger creatures are easier to hit. It gives you a penalty to attacks to level the playing field between creatures of the same size. A Small creature (+1 atk) attacking a Large one (-1 AC) is effectively attacking at a +2. A Large creature (-1 atk) attacking a Large creature (-1 AC) is effectively attacking at +0. So how long, exactly, has this been bothering you? |
