BAB/Attacks Question [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-14-07, 01:48 AM Sorry, this question is probably a really easy but I'm looking to DM for the first time with a group of new players. It's been a while since I've played (3.0) and my first time DMing. I just picked up the MM 3.5 and was curious about the Attack/Full Attack entries. They say they included the Size and Strength bonuses.

So if I have a creature that has Bite +0 and a BAB of +2 when I roll I do 1d20+2 or 1d20?

What if another creature has 2 Claws +0, Bite -3 and BAB +2? (1d20+2 and 1d20-3+2-5 OR 1d20 and 1d20-3?)

I guess I'm a little bit confused as to when you apply the base attack bonus to the attack entries of natural weapons. Thanks so much for your help on the subject...hopefully I can square all this away and be introducing these guys to the game in no time!

The BAB is already included in the attack entry. if your BAB is +2, and the Bite is +0 there was a penalty that wiped out that +2 leaving you with a 0. Therefore you just roll d20 plus whatevers listed with the attack. The BAB is listed for the sake of convenience, and if you want the moster to use feats like power attack.
