Okay. I saw "A Sound of Thunder" last night and just loved the baboon/dinosaur creatures. I've attempted to translate (vaguely) into D&D3.5 for use in my world.

I'm looking for constructive criticism/feedback. Thank you. :D

A Babolizard is a powerful and aggressive creature that has a dinosaur llike body with a baboon like face and lizard like tail. The babolizard can use this tail to hand from thick tree limbs or other hanging protrusions. Babolizards are carnivores and have been known to attack humanoids for food.

Babolizards run on all four limbs.

COMBAT

Babolizards usually attack in groups and surround their prey, moving in until they can overwhelm the prey. Once overwhelmed, the babolizards rip into the prey’s flesh.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a babolizard must hit with a claw or bite attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can rend.
Rake (Ex): Attack bonus +6 melee, damage 1d8+2.
Skills: A babolizard has a +8 racial bonus on Climb, Jump, Listen and Spot checks. Babolizards can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened.

Ah, that was indeed a cool movie. I'll have to go back and watch it again; thanks for the reminder! Anyway, couple of corrections for ya.

Large Beast
Beast is no longer a type in 3.5; it would be an animal. If you play in 3.0 or keep the beast type in your campaigns, then this is fine.

Intiative: +
Modifier is missing. Should be +2.

Base Attack/Grapple: +2/+6
Base attack bonus for both beasts and animals is 3/4 their Hit Dice, or +3 for this guy, which would also bump his grapple modifier to +7.

Attack: Bite +2 melee (1d8+2)
It looks like you mean its bite to be a secondary attack, so the attack bonus should be +1 (+3 base attack bonus, +4 Strength, -1 size, -5 for a secondary attack). You should probably list a claw attack here instead if the bite is secondary.

Full Attack: 2 Claws +6 melee (1d6+4) and Bite +1 melee (1d8+2)
Both of these are correct with the newly adjusted base attack bonus.

Saves: Fort +, Ref +, Will +
All missing. For a 3-Hit Dice beast or animal, the base saves would be Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +1, plus the babolizard's modifiers, for a total of Fort +7, Ref +6, Will +2

Skills: Climb +13, Jump +13, Listen +12, Spot +12
These seem to be off. After taking away racial bonuses, ability modifiers, and the benefit of the Alertness feat, I get a total of 1 rank spent in each Climb and Jump. How many points it has depends on if you're going by beast or animal type.
--As a beast, in 3.0, it should have between 10 and 15 skill points, so you've got 8-13 left to spend.
--As an animal in 3.5, it has (2 + Intelligence modifier, minimum 1) x (Hit Dice + 3) skill points, or 7 skill points, so you've got 5 left to spend.

Other than those relatively minor issues, it looks like a pretty solid conversion stat-wise. I don't remember much about the movie, but it seems consistent with the parts I recall. Good work .

Thank you for your feedback. All I can say is "doh"--for forgetting a few things. Musta had a brain fart. ;-)

This is actually my first new monster so I was unsure _exactly_ how to do it.

Again, thank you.

Wow, for a first monster this had surprisingly few mistakes, and it's well balanced. I'm impressed, and glad I could help.
