Balor type-0? [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-10-06, 11:16 AM I checked the MM errata and didn't find anything. When I was checking the stats of the Balor, it looked like they figured the Str bonus to weapon damage incorrectly. It looks like they used a figure 10 points lower than what the actual Str score is in the ability score entry. Has anyone else noticed this or heard of any reasons?

Whip has +6 damage [1/2 Str = 6].

Slams have +12 damage [12 Strength].

I don't see anything wrong there.

11-10-06, 11:32 AM It has been mentioned before, the consensus is that it is likely due to sloppy copy-and-pasting from 3.0 over to 3.5. I think the balor was much weaker back then, hence the lower str.:)

Thanks. I had a feeling this was what was happening, but I wanted to be sure that I hadn't missed or misread something.

11-10-06, 11:24 PM The 3.5 balor has 35 str, for a +12 bonus to damage. Yet it receives only +8 damage as per the MM3.5, rather than the +13 it should rightfully get.:)

Well, that's odd; the SRD lists it correctly. Are you sure it's not in the errata? Did you look at the 'B' section for Balor rather than the 'D' section for Demons?

Are you sure? I just came from checking the SRD...:confused:
Attack: +1 vorpal longsword +33 melee (2d6+8/19–20)

11-11-06, 04:09 PM I checked the MM book, not the SRD. When I checked the errata, I looked under "D" for demon (as other demons were listed there). I didn't think to check under "B".
