Chronomage 06-11-04, 07:50 PM	Check me to make sure I got this right: The balor has a Strength of 35, which gives him a modifier of +12. He dual wields a large longsword (2d6) and a large whip (1d4). By the rules he should do full strength on the sword, and half on the whip, meaning: +1 vorpal longsword 2d6 + 13 (+12 str., +1 magic)/ 19-20; +1 flaming whip 1d4+7 plus 1d6 fire plus entangle; or 2 slams 1d10+12. Yet by the book he does: +1 vorpal longsword 2d6 + 7/19-20; +1 flaming whip 1d4+4 plus 1d6 fire; or 2 slams 1d10+7. Does anyone else agree with me, or did I miss something? Also on to the retriever... The retriever has 10d10 hd +80 in the book, and it's a huge construct. But huge constructs are supposed to gain +40 hp, not 80 which is reserved for colossal. So it should be 10d10+40 (95 hp, rather than 135...wow, that's too bad. So, does anyone else agree these are fixes for the errata, or did I miss something? Thanks in advance for any replies.
was_fired 06-11-04, 08:08 PM	Yep both of these are mistakes. I was rather annoyed myself when I noticed they got the balor's strength to damage wrong.
cwslyclgh 06-11-04, 08:47 PM	it is a cut and paste error from the 3.0 mm, wher balors had a lower strength score. Retreivers should hve a HD line of 10D10+40 (95 hp)
Raven113 06-12-04, 06:03 AM	Acording to Sword and Fist, the whip is treated as a ranged weapon. Mighty whip is the varient that allows the strength bonus to be added. Though it could be said that the balor (since he's so proficient with his whip) gets an ability similar to a Lasher's, in which he can use it as a melee or ranged weapon. Just saying... Edit: Unless I'm entirely mistaken. In which, please tell me. My curent character uses a whip, so I'd love to be proven wrong.
