Howie23 04-11-08, 02:24 AM	A barbed devil has Improved Grab and Impale. A Medium barbed devil can only Improve Grab creatures who are Small or smaller. Can it Impale a Medium critter via normal grapple?
DKase 04-11-08, 02:56 AM	If the only requirement for the impale ability is for the Barbed devil to successfully establish a grapple, then yes it can impale through the normal grapple rules (Move in, provoke the AoO, make the touch attack if AoO misses, etc.) The Improved Grab is only a means to an end. It allows the creature to make an immediate grapple check on a successful hit while avoiding the AoO.

I can picture it only being able to impale if big enough to pick up and slam on a spike, for instance. David
