I'm looking at creating a Roc-like bat creature as a replacment for the Roc in my campaign. I was going to use the Roc's stat block as a starting point but was wondering what changes you all felt were appropriate to incorporate a bat's blindsense ability in to a Bat Roc. Thanks for any help.

Instead of starting out with the Roc's stat block and trying to make it batlike, I'd take a dire bat, advance it to size gargantuan or collosal (I know, that's not in the book, but pretend it is), and give it roclike claw attacks with improved grab in addition to its bite.

If you're looking for an extra challenge, maybe it can use its radar to stun people the way small bats do to insects.

There's always the Titanic template in MM2, as well.

Great ideas, I think I'm going to make them both tonight and pick the one I prefer. Just one more question for Return of the Flumph.I like the idea of a stunning attack but doesn't it seem like it would still be classified as an animal if it had an attack of that magnitude?

How about a kind of sonic attack that stuns its victims for 1d? something rounds, which a save DC based on its constituion modifier. That way it can be an Extroadinary ability and perfectly viable for any animal. Similar to a Yrthaks sonic lance (which is a Supernatural ability mind you) but instead of dealing damage it stuns.
