What kind of Level adjustment would you give to a BearHound (MM3) to be an Animal Companion for an Epic lvl Druid? I’m looking at maybe a -9 or -12 because of its abilities, any other ideas?

A bearhound is a magical beast and as such not suited as an animal companion.
Looking past that I'd say its still totally unsuitable. It has an INT score of 16.
If you can get your DM far enough to grant it to you I'd say that it would be at least a -16 adjustment or something in that direction. Its got full BAB, a huge STR rating, a load of special abilities&attacks. Maybe -16 isn't even enough.

The only way it could be done is with the Magical Beast Companion feat from the Epic Level Handbook (actually the 3.5 epic SRD and the 3.5 Epic Level Handbook pdf).

As for what the adjustment would be...

I would guess Level-12 or 13th level. As a general guideline I compare the CRs of the animals on the Alternate Companions table. I checked the one listed with the Magical Beast Companion feat and used that (just so everyone knows how I came up with this answer).
