| Kesuk2k502-05-08, 08:31 AM | I'm thinking that the bebilith should be identified as an obyrinth rather than a tanar'ri (obyrinths being presented in Hordes of the Abyss). After all, bebiliths can only communicate with other bebiliths; it can't even telepathically communicate with other demons, and it actively hunts the tanar'ri (that sure seems to indicate it has a vendetta against the "new generation"). Maybe I'm wrong, but ever since I got interested in D&D, the bebilith stuck out in my mind as a demon with habits and quirks that were too incongruous with those of the other tanar'ri. All you'd really have to do to implement the change is switch out the traits and give it a form of madness based on arachnophobia. It hit me a while ago, but I decided to post my thoughts on it and see what other people think. |

If you want to make them obyriths, I recommend you come up with a Form of Madness ability for them, as that seems to be the obyrith trademark. |
| Kesuk2k502-05-08, 01:16 PM | ..Huh. Fair enough. I guess it was simply that they were presented with other tanar'ri, and the retriever being a construct was something else entirely. I suppose it's just a case of forgetfulness on my part. |

| Narthon02-05-08, 05:50 PM | Are there any guidelines in print for handing out form of maddness? |
| Nilbog02-05-08, 08:46 PM | An even weirder thought. What if the bebiliths are just the larvae/nymphs of a much nastier insectoid monster, something capable of eating balors with impunity? |
