If I recall correctly, the 3.0 Monster Manual stated that a Beholder could only make three ray attacks at a single target. The rest had to be aimed somewhere else, because his body got in the way.

The 3.5 manual, however, doesn't seem to state such a thing. It only mentions what its rays do, and how many he's got. Does this 'only 3 rays' rule still exist? And if it does, is it that it can target up to 3 rays per person, or is it per side? Or is it 3 rays per round?

What if the beholder turned to face the floor with his antimagic field eye, effectively pointing all his other eyes forward?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure 3.5 still says that you can't shoot more than three rays. But, instead of the one target thing, it has a confusing angle thing. I think.
