i have a queastion and i hope some one can help me with it. how many eye rays can a beholder use in a round. the book does not even hent at it, are they to be treted as a spell and there for only one per round or can the use more than one per round.if they can only use one per round thin why give thim ten eye stalks.thin not let thim use thim. if thats the case wouldnt it make more sence to give thim one eye with ten diferant abillites usable only once around.:behold:

from what I read in either the MM or Forgotten Realm Campaign Handbook, the beholder can only turn 3 eyestalks in the same arc.
But I think that if the beholder wanted to, it could use all of its eye stalks at once.

I was wondering about that myself. The "3 eyes in any single arc (except above, where it can use all eyes)"-rule is 3.0. IIRC, they took that out in 3.5. To me, that sounds as if the Beholder is supposed to be able to use all eyes in a single round, or not? Don't have my books with me to doublecheck, though.

A beholder can use all of its eyestalks any round as a free action. However, it can only aim three of them in any one 90 degree arc (left, right, forward, backward, up or down). Note that unlike 3E, a beholder can't fire all of its eye rays up at the same time.
