Ash the blackcowl 12-30-06, 12:08 PM	Q - Does a beholders antimagic cone penetrate solid material? My first inclination is no, however I dont think assigning it the standard "It can penetrate barriers but 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks it" comment is unreasonable. Taylir 12-31-06, 05:39 PM	Well according to the Line of Effect rules p176 PHB, it would be blocked unless there was a 1ft square opening per 5ft sectional area. Something a beholder could easily do with the Disintigrate eye. Party enters cave complex or underground ruin: DM: You seem to notice as you are walking though the damp passages that every few feet you can peer into another section of the complex though crude holes in the walls. Players: Great this will make it easier to explore, we can just alter our forms with magic and manuever through here quite easily. DM to self: Exactly what the beholder wants, start using magic and use the openings to get around, then blam, antimagic field comes up and you have players trapped like rats.
