Now it specifically says under the Flesh golem that a certain period of non activity resets the counter to 0, however it says no such thing for the Clay Golem. My question is whether or not the percentage gained during one fight with a clay golem carries on to the next fight using that same golem. For Example: My groups mage uses his Clay golem to fight, and stays back casting spells, the fight last 6 rounds giving the golem a 6% chance of berserking. After winning the fight the PCs are engaged again after a few moment of travel. Does the clay golem still have the 6%? Would 5 more rounds bring it up to 11%? |

The phrase: "When a clay golem enters combat, there is a cumulative 1% chance each round that its elemental spirit breaks free and the golem goes berserk." implies that it is started anew at the begining of combat. Additionally, if it didn't reset, clay golems that have been around for awhile would definitely be "edgy" (since once they do go beserk that's pretty much the end of them). We would've heard stories about this if it were true. You appear to have found a writing glitch. The % reset note was just after the rules for regaining control. It seems like after the author did a cut/paste, he then cut (modified) the regaining control part for the clay golem... accidentally deleting the reset instructions in the process? I would just use the flesh golem rules for resetting the % on the clay golem. |
