Just was looking at the preview for the MMV, and... what's up with that bladerager troll? Check this out:

Immune: mind-affecting spells and abilities

Tortured Mind (Ex): Anyone who makes direct contact with a bladerager troll's mind (as with Detect Thoughts) takes 1d4 wisdom damage.

Uh, right... and how do you make mind-contact without actually using a mind-affecting ability? Ugh.

I think the intent here was that you take the 1d4 damage, and THEN the spell fails -- you get violently kicked out of its mind -- but that's not how it's written. As written, the troll is immune first, so mind contact never actually occurs.

It shouldn't have anything on the "immune" line; it should be a specific note in Tortured Mind -- "takes 1d4 wisdom damage, and the ability fails" or some such text.

Telepathy would count, would it not?

I suppose. Telepathic Bond isn't mind affecting.

Still, it seems clear to me that they intended the immunity to apply AFTER the wisdom damage, but it really ought to say so in the ability description.
