Bleeding Bones

Bleeding Bones are the animated corpses of one who died from bleeding to death. Fueled by the rage of dying in a helpless state, bleeding bones are mindless killing machines striking at any living being they come in contact with.

Before you is a horrid skeletal mass, pasty blood clings to it's pink bones as it reaches towards you with it's emotionless visage.

Blood Drain: After a successful bite attack a bleeding bones deals 1 points of constitution damage, this grants the bleeding bones 5 temporary hp per con point drained for one day, even if this would exceed it's normal maximum.

Nauseating Stench: The smell of rotted dry blood clings to the Bleeding Bones and is difficult to bear, anyone withing 15 feet of the Bleeding Bones must make a fortitude save DC 15 or be nauseated for 1d6 rounds, a character may only be nauseated by the same bleeding bones once in 24 hours, a character who makes his save becomes immune to the nauseating stench of that bleeding bones for 24 hours, a character who is already nauseated before entering within 15 feet of the bleeding bones must make a fortitude save at a DC of 20, or instead becomes sicked for 1d6 rounds.

Slippery: Because of the semi-wet blood covering it's body, anyone attempting to grapple a bleeding bones does so at a -4 penalty.

Sounds good, everything looks balanced for a CR4 creature.

Thank you, if you like this one keep an eye out, I've got 12 more undead I'm working on.

Nauseating Stench: I think you need to clarify the number of times the ability occurs. Is it just like once per encounter? Do you get nauseated, and if so then you make an additional save or become sickened? Do you make a save every round or be sickened for 1d6 rounds?

Frankly, I think they're somewhat lacking in character.

Also, whoever came up with the bright idea of the ever-mutating, unreadable "easy to use format" for creatures deserves to be shot in the leg.

Yeah I don't like the new monster format either, but I am trying to keep up with the system.

As for the stench, it is only 1 save per the encounter, the reason I mentioned if you are already naused is you might be fighting more than 1. I'll try to clean up that description tonight.

Thank you for your comments.

I think they should be shot a bit higher than the leg.

Also, I like this one as well. Undead are so fluffy...

Vampires have to pin someone to drain blood. Are you sure a simple bite should drain 2 con? Wounding weapons deal only 1 con.

Good point, I'll change it to 1 con.

I'll have to point out the wraith, dread wraith, and greater wounding weapon quality (MMII revised in update).

Ooh! Greater wounding! I being a core-slave was unaware of that one. If you would be so kind as to indulge me, what is the cost for that (wounding being +1 enhancement equivalent).

You have a point with the wraiths, but I got the impression that this was an Animate Dead spawn (something like alternate zombies). May the Great Pumpkin smite me if I assume falsely.

Bleeding bones was indeed meant to be an alternate zombie/skeleton type undead, but since these where meant to be a lower CR undead I'll let it sit at 1 con.

It's in the update for MMII available in the 3.5 archive. However since it's free I'll post it here.

Greater Wounding Weapon Property:
A greater wounding weapon deals 2 points of Constitution damage from blood loss when it hits a creature. A critical hit does not multiply the Constitution
damage. Creatures immune to critical hits (such as plants and constructs) are immune to the Constitution damage dealt by this weapon.

Strong evocation; CL 15th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Mordenkainen’s
sword; Price +4 bonus.

Please restrain yourself from spamming. That was neither kind, nor was it on-topic. But even if your rudeness does compare favorably with the person to whom you address your comment, I'm sure you have people who love you...

So...a non violent means to prevent future ignorance is somehow worse than shooting someone in the leg, causing potential amputation?

Hey, I liked that one much better! Good job! ;)

Just saying, reason is more effective than blatant insults. I'm glad you subjected me to the former.

Haha, of course, that's because he is frustrated with the designer(s). It's much easier to make the innocent look like monsters when they inconvenience you. But, that doesn't mean he shouldn't have any children. Just means he should take a breather and get a new perspective on life.

Anyway, now I'm off-topic. My applogies. :)

Thats okay, check out my Geisha class, that one got seriously derailed, a Wizo had to delete a few post. That one almost got locked.

Speaking of a new perspecive on life, I will probably be posting up something interesting soon! ;) Keep your eyes open.

Swap Toughness for Improved Toughness?

You can, but I was limiting myself to core feats, I generally only feats from alternate books if the material I'm coming up with is inspired from alternate books.

For example my greed demon has Tome of Magic material in it, but only core and ToM.
