Here's a monster I created by applying the half-vampire template to a 12hd Gelatinous cube (yes, I do know that that it technically illegal, but it seemed good at the time...). Now I want to use this in my campaign but I thought it looked a little hard for a 6th level encounter, so any advice would be helpful.

so im assuming that if they succeed in engulfing there foe they immidietly begin to blood drain... cool. wasn't fast healing somewhere on that template?

Yes, yes it did. Fast healing 1 when it drops below half hit points, which might mean the difference between life and death for a PC... I'm not a killer DM, honest!

When the gelatinous cube engulfs a creature it is counted as grappled so I assume that yes, blood drain does happen immediatley. They'll proabably succumb to the paralysis as well. Just as a side, I'm going to rule that if it has used its blood drain in the last hour its transparency is suppressed...I have this cool mental image of the 'cube blossoming red when someone's inside. Sometimes I even scare myself.

It's not that much above a CR 6. Maybe a 7, but spellcasters get fireball by the time they'd likely face this.

I like it!! I can see it too! Raymond's right though, keep the fast healing and either a CR of 6 or 7 is perfect.

It's good, but hasn't it already been done in an official D&D book?
