Blue Dragon Spell-Like Ability [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-30-03, 02:33 PM Blue Dragons have the spell-like ability to Create/Destroy Water. According to the SRD:

Create/Destroy Water (Sp): A blue dragon of any age can use this ability three times per day. It works like the create water spell, except that the dragon can decide to destroy water instead of creating it, which automatically spoils unattended liquids containing water. Magic items (such as potions) and items in a creature’s possession must succeed on a Will save (DC equal to that of the dragon’s frightful presence) or be ruined. This ability is the equivalent of a 1st-level spell.

However, it does not specify how the destroy water spell really works. Create Water is straightforward, as it is a spell in the book. Is it an area effect spell? Would it effect all water in the area 25 feet + 5 feet per caster level? I'm making a Young Blue Dragon, so it is not old enough to have a sorceror caster level for spells. Is the caster level zero?

Also, how do you set the DC when the dragon isn't old enough to have frightful presence?

08-30-03, 02:57 PM I think the caster level for SP abilities is 1/2 HD + Cha.

Destroy Water works the same way as create water. Same range, radius, quantity,...

Just take the spell description of create water and exchange "create" with "destroy"

Also, the MM doesn't say how long it takes to hatch a dragon egg.
