masterofmayhem 07-05-04, 08:49 PM	OK, a bodak is classified as : Medium Undead (Extraplanar) Now, I have several questions about them. 1) When using knowledge checks to identify them, would one use a knowlede (religion) check or a knowledge (the planes) check? 2) Are bodaks subject to turning from a cleric and damage via cure spells? 3) Can a bodak use its gaze attack on an AoO? 4) Does a bodak retain its DR once it's destroyed, or does the body explode into dust (like on so many vampire movies)?

A creature is required to use an actual attack (with an attack roll) to make AoOs 4) Does a bodak retain its DR once it's destroyed, or does the body explode into dust (like on so many vampire movies)? Do you mean "does the body remain or is it desroyed?" Again, DM's call, unless it specifically states otherwise in the creature's description. I myself rule that for nonliving creatures (both Undead and Constructs), the creature's body crumbles and is destroyed when the creature is killed.

Thanks, for the answers, but what I meant was poorly phrased. I should have made it two separate questions. First, does the body of a destroyed undead wither into dust, as you already answered, and, second, if it does not, would it be likely that the creature's DR would still be present (so that I could try out various metals on them to know what they are hurt by)? Thanks.:)

Thanks.:) I'd suggest that DR only applies while the creature is alive (or undead as the case may be). There's no hard rule on this, but it seems to stand to reason that if a being is no longer moving around, animated, etc its DR will no longer function. And a Bodak's body will still remain after it is killed. While they're typically formed by mortals dying in certain regions of the Abyss, its undead rather than an outsider so the body is likely to remain after it's killed (as opposed to an outsider which typically vanishes as its essence disperses or joins with its native plane if killed on its home plane).
