| Insane Pixie08-13-06, 10:28 PM | STEELMORPH A steel-skinned creature slides into its place before you, its eyes flaming with a piercing red glow. It seems poorly constructed, as iron plates of different sizes and composition can be seen scattered across its body. Before your eyes, it falls into pieces onto the ground. The plates rise into the air, and rapidly reform the being into the shape of a ravenous looking wolf. The save DC is Constitution-based. Iron Claw (Ex) When a steelmorph assumes a new form, treat the creature's primary natural attack as one size larger when determining damage. Alternate Form (Su) A steelmorph has the ability to reorganize the metal plates that compose its body to assume a new form. It may assume the form of any animal, humanoid, monstrous humanoid, or giant of a size within one step of its own. A dispel magic spell, or any similar spell, will revert the steelmorph to its original form. True seeing has no effect on steelmorphs. A steelmorph retains its damage reduction in any form it takes, as well as the ability to use its breath weapon. When it takes a new form, it retains its own natural armor bonus in place of the new form's. Light Fortification (Ex) Whenever a critical hit or sneak attack is scored on a steelmorph, there is a 25% that the attack is negated and damage is rolled normally. Freeze Form (Ex) A steelmorph hit with any attack dealing cold damage in excess of its Constitution modifier is slowed (as the slow spell) for 1d4 rounds, with no saving through. In addition, it cannot change form for the duration its slowed. ________________________________________ Steelmorphs often serve demonic arcane masters, used as blitzkrieg units in larger packs. A steelmorph will occasionally be ordered to incapacitate a foe, and return it to his master. Environment: Steelmorphs often make homes on the material plane, where they communicate with their infernal lords through different means. Typical Physical Characteristics: A steelmorph stands about six feet tall, weighing approximately 750 lbs. Alignment: Steelmorphs are created as evil creatures, forever lawful to their masters. However, when a steelmorph's master falls, he may develop a more independent state of mind, often becoming neutral evil. Society Steelmorphs were designed by infernals to make short business of weaker foes. They may be sent out to desecrate or destroy a church that dares to besmirch the good name of their demon master, or to eliminate an evangelist of a more celestial cause. Typical Treasure Steelmorphs do not often carry treasure, as they are constantly shifting forms. They return most valuables they find to their masters, keeping none for themselves, as they see little use for such things. However, some more independent steelmorphs may acquire magic items to enhance their combat abilities. STEELMORPH LORE Characters with ranks in Knowledge (arcane) can learn more about steelmorph. When a character makes a successful skill check, the following lore is revealed, including the information from lower DCs. Knowledge (arcane) DC Result 15 Steelmorphs rely on melding their shape to overcome their foes. 20 A steelmorph's breathe is lethal, and can paralyze foes in a matter of seconds. 25 Like most constructs, steelmorphs share some common weaknesses of their type. |

| Insane Pixie08-14-06, 04:16 PM | Bump for more insight. EDIT: I love it, when you finish it we'll make one into a companion for my upcoming armathrope... Or, you could just use this guy as the armathrope. That was sort of what inspired this guy, and I think Dracomortis is very much swamped with requests right now. But, I'd understand if you wanted to wait it out. |

I would, but the Armathrope is very specifically designed (ie all the class levels, special items, etc) plus this only shows one of the (3???) forms for the creature but like I said, I'd love to use one with class levels as a companion for classes, it'd probably be an OA Samurai... |

| DarknessGivenHunger08-14-06, 05:13 PM | I was assuming it was more of a lycan-based creature, since you have the above listed form as 'Humanoid Form', I figured there would be a 'Base form, and 'animal (not actual animal but you know what i mean) form' as well, and a template on how to make it |
